In January 2006, all roads will lead to Amaravati, a small town in Andhra pradesh and the venue for the kalachakra initiation by his holiness, the dalai lama. This event, one of the most sublime teaching of tibetians Buddhism, is expected to attract more than 300,000 pilgrims from all over the world.

The kalachakra tantra is most profound and complex of all Buddhist tantric teachings and has been preserved in India and Tibet for the last 2,500 years. It entered Tibet from India in the 11^th century and the legacy has been handed down many generations through the institution of the Dalai Lama. It is regarded as the essence and core of the vajrayana sect.

Tibetan Buddhism incorporates both Hindu yogic and tantric practices with the traditional teachings of Buddha.

It encompasses the core of the 84,000 categories of Buddhist teachings and embraced other universal phenomena such as astronomy, geography history, mathematics and astrology.
